1. Hi, I recently asked a question about if you were going to reintroduce the promotional item you did once, a mozzarella cheeseburger. You told me that McDonalds UK has never offered such an item but I beg to differ. It was in February 2001, it was offered alongside a 'Chicken Italienne'. Fair enough if you are not going to bring it back but I just wanted to set the record straight that it had been offered in the UK (Huddersfield, if it matters). Thank you. p.s. It was also advertised on TV!
Thanks again for your question. We believe you are referring to the Mozzarella McDouble promotional burger we had on our menu in 2001, which was part of our ‘Love Italian Food’ theme. This was a double Hamburger featuring Mozzarella cheese served in a Quarter bun. Sorry about the misunderstanding on this one. As we said before we currently don’t have any plans to re-introduce this burger. (June 2011)

2. I suffer from gluten intolerance and see that your fries are ok for me. What about your burgers? - leaving aside the bun itself is the actual burger gluten free?
Thanks for your question. The beef burgers on their own without the bun are suitable for people with a gluten intolerance. All McDonald's UK beef burgers are made from 100% beef, (no binders, fillers or additives). They are seasoned with salt and pepper just after cooking, which again is suitable for people with a gluten intolerance. If you let your server know your requirements when placing your order they will be happy to help you. (January 2011)

3. Why isn't the Mega Mac widely available
The Mega Mac was only ever intended for launch as a promotional item in the UK and not as a regular menu item.

4. A few questions sorry, why can't breakfast be served till 11am at all restaurants? The one near my work 45mins away serves till 11 yet my local one only till 10:30. Why isn't the 1/4 pounder deluxe on the menu? it's the same burger with salad surely not hard. Only 3 proper beef burgers on the menu why? not much for a burger chain
Thank you for your questions. McDonald’s apologises for any inconvenience however, McDonald's uses the same grills for both its main menu and the breakfast menu, and so it is not possible to have both menus running at the same time. The sausage and beef patties cook at different temperatures and times, and therefore the grill settings need changing and thorough cleaning. This means that breakfast needs to finish at 10.30am so that food can be cooked for the main menu. With regards to the burger choices McDonald's believes it works hard to accommodate its customers' different tastes with a varied menu. The Quarter Pounder Deluxe was a promotional item and as such only available for a limited period. If you are really missing the Quarter Pounder Deluxe let the Customer Services team know. You can contact them via the ‘Contact Us’ section at www.mcdonalds.co.uk.

5. In one of the questions, someone asks you about mctriples yet, you give an answer about the big tasty - yet they are different things! The queation was will the mc triple return not big tasty. Personally I would love to see the mc triple return what are the chances (it's much missed!!!)
Unfortunately, there are no plans to bring back the McTriple Burger. If you feel strongly that the McTriple Burger should be a permanent addition to the McDonald's menu then you may like to contact the Customer Services team via the ‘Contact Us’ section at www.mcdonalds.co.uk. (November 2008)

6. Don't you think that your company is trying to please too many people? By catering for the vegetarians, you are making the meat eaters mad. By introducing Halal, you are causing pubic outcry amongst those who do not believe in the Muslim religion. Why cant you just put your foot down and stand up for what you are? A restaurant that is well-known and loved for serving BURGERS and FRIES.
Firstly McDonald's apologises unreservedly for the late reply to your question. There were some technical problems which caused some questions to slip through. Regarding your question; McDonald's is a customer focused business and so - while it realises it can't please everyone all of the time - still needs to keep up with the evolving diets and tastes of the many people who would like to enjoy its food. Thus, McDonald's keeps listening to its customers and adding to or changing the menu accordingly. For example, the company now uses a non-hydrogenated blend of sunflower and rapeseed oil, and also no longer uses cochineal in its Strawberry Milkshakes so that everyone, including vegetarians and Muslims, are able to enjoy the great tastes that burger-lovers have always appreciated at McDonald's. On that note, there is more information about the Halal trial underway (on the chicken menu in one London restaurant) on this website but the company has not, at this stage, introduced Halal to the menu more broadly. SEPTEMBER '09 TRIAL RESULT: McDonald’s began this trial because we wanted to assess customer demand for certified Halal food in our UK restaurants. We have learnt that Halal is only popular with a very small percentage of our customers and to offer it we would need to make significant changes to our kitchen procedures and supply chain. Given this, we have decided that we are not currently in a position to roll out Halal food in the UK.

7. lots of supermarkets have low fat /good for you beef. Why do you not do a low fat burger?
Thank you for your suggestion. McDonald's UK burgers only use 100 percent beef in its beef patties. Nothing but whole cuts of forequarter and flank - similar to the mince you'd buy in the supermarket. All that's added is a pinch of salt and pepper after cooking. The beef itself will naturally contain some fat but the level is closely monitored. The beef patties are cooked between hot plates that cook the patties from both sides - a similar cooking process to the grilling machines that are sold in a variety of kitchenware stores. Its lower cooking surface reaches 177 degrees centigrade, and the top plate reaches 218 degrees centigrade. The clamshell design allows for the burger patty to cook evenly and quickly from both sides. With regards a low fat burger McDonald's UK currently offers a range of foods that are lower in fat content. For example the Toasted Deli Sandwich with Chicken and Salad contains only 5g of fat and the Grilled Chicken & Bacon Salad with Balsamic Dressing contains only 6g of fat. (September 2009)

8. I am a massive Maccies fan. Tell me, can I get some free food?
McDonald’s doesn’t give away things for free. However there are regular competitions, voucher booklets distributed across the UK from time to time and promotions where prizes can be won. If you don’t receive a voucher booklet and would like one, please contact McDonald's Customer Services team on 08705 244622 who will send one out to you if there is such a promotion taking place.

9. How many cows do mcdonalds get through in a year?
It's difficult to give an absolute precise number, but to give a rough estimate, McDonald's UK use approximately 33,000 tonnes of beef a year – that's roughly 90kg of boneless meat per animal, equating to just under 367,000 head of cattle a year. (August 2007)

10. Why dont you do one single burger that doesn't contain any sauce so I don't have to feel like an idiot and wait for ten minutes so that I can enjoy a plain burger. Failing that why don't you have some plain burgers already made up in case I decide to visit your restuarant
The food in McDonald's is all made to standard recipes, which are well loved. As you said it is possible to ask for the sandwiches without sauces. These grill orders, as they are known, are not that common so it would be wasteful to keep plain burgers constantly available. McDonald's food has to be served in a time limit to ensure optimum freshness. However, if you feel the waiting time is unsatisfactory, please speak to the restaurant manager.
