1. Can you tell me which of your restaurants are currently selling espresso drinks? Are there any in the Chicago, Minneapolis or Denver markets?
OK, some bad news is coming, none of the McDonald's restaurants in the UK serve Espresso beverages, sorry about that. However, freshly prepared lattes and Cappuccinos are available. As this site has been set up to deal with questions dealing with McDonald's UK restaurants, you will be able to find further information about McDonald's restaurants in the US by visiting www.mcdonalds.com (January 2008)

3. Whilst in the USA I noticed McDonalds coffee cups having ant-drip mechanism on the lid. Why not use this over here too? It would also be nice to have half cream made available, after all coffee with watered down milk does in my opinion taste rather bland.
Firstly, many apologies for the very slow response to your question, as the site went through a few changes, some questions had slipped through the net, so thank you for your patience. The coffee lid design was recently introduced after research indicated that consumers liked the overall styling and performance, and the opening/closing feature was found to work especially well for drive-thru customers. McDonald’s US is now evaluating a few more slight design changes in response to initial feedback from consumers and restaurant crew members. Once those changes are successfully made, McDonald’s plan to determine how the lid’s features might benefit McDonald’s customers in other parts of the world, including the UK market. Regarding the cream, McDonald's UK no longer uses creamers for coffee (and hasn't for a while now). Semi-skimmed milk is used in the coffee machines for white, latte and cappuccino coffees.

4. i was in spain and went to mcdonalds and bought a coffee with a scoop of ice cream in it, it was good, why dont they serve that in the uk?
Menu options may vary from country to country due to many factors including target markets, tastes and cultural differences and traditions. McDonald's research and review its menu regularly to ensure that there is variety and value across the board. If there is something that you would like to see on the menu, please contact McDonald's by email by using the 'Contact Us' link at www.mcdonalds.co.uk. (December 2007)

5. Is McDonalds coffee fair trade? If not why?
Apologies for our late reply to your question. Although Fairtrade is the most recognised mark to indicate that suppliers and retailers treat growers and local communities fairly, it is not the only one. McDonald’s has joined 19 other members of the Sustainable Agriculture Initiative Platform, created by the food industry to improve conditions for local communities and will launch a Kenco Rainforest Alliance Certified Coffee range in January 2007. McDonald's chose to switch to Kenco Rainforest Alliance Certified Coffee because the programme takes a holistic approach to supply chain sustainability. What this means is that because farms are certified based on social and environmental standards that guide farmers towards long-term sustainable farm management, the quality of the coffee produced is generally higher. This means that McDonald’s customers get competitively priced high quality Arabica coffee that has been produced sustainably according to standards that benefit coffee farmers and the environment. McDonald's firmly believes that the Rainforest Alliance's focus on social and environmental standards and sustainable farm management complements its own supply chain principles. If you would like further information on the Sustainable Agriculture Initiative Platform, please visit the website at www.saiplatform.org, where you’ll find a section on coffee growing. You can also look out for more information in restaurants on Rainforest Alliance coffee in restaurants this January.

If you would like to see it become part of the menu, please contact the McDonald's Customer Service Team on 08705 244 622 or by visiting the 'Contact Us' section on www.mcdonalds.co.uk. 9. why dont you offerr wider coffee ranges ina climate of ever increasing coffee outlets you still over standard coffee not evan decaf, missed opportunity here especially as I have notticed customers are becoming higher class
McDonald's introduced a new range of Rainforest Alliance coffee produced by Kenco in January of this year. You can enjoy great tasting cappuccino, latte or black coffee safe in the knowledge that's also responsibly sourced. Unfortunately, the range does not offer a de-caffeinated option at the moment, but the range is constantly under review.

11. i am getting quite tired of mcdonalds trying to make peole think the food is from good sources just because of this woman who goes to visit one farm which happens to be good to their animals. can you guarantee this with all the farms who supply your beef?
The farm that Louise visited is a typical farm that supplies beef cattle to McDonald’s UK and was chosen based on geographical ease of access for the first Quality Scout. Over the coming months, there will be more reports from farms all over the country that will be published on the website in the same way. McDonald’s has many processes in place to audit its suppliers to ensure that they all comply to the same high standards of practice.

13. Why did you change all coffees to large. All other drinks/meals have a choice. Was it just a money maker?
McDonald’s has just launched the large coffee on to the menu, as this is something that customers have asked for. However, the large coffee is in addition to the previous coffee size so there is a choice of medium and large.
