- 1. Hi, I have repeatedly seen the answers on this website direct vegetarians to the Grilled Veggie Melt Toasted Deli Sandwich but was quite surprised to find that it actually appears to be unsuitable for vegetarians according to the nutrition information printed on the back of the paper mats that you get in the trays. I assume that these are printed centrally before being distributed to restaurants so please could you explain why you seem to direct people towards a non-veg option? Thanks, JamesT.

All ingredients in the Spicy Veggie Deli are suitable for vegetarians (i.e. contain no ingredients of animal origin). The vegetable patty is cooked in a dedicated vat using a non hydrogenated blend of rapeseed and sunflower oil (which is suitable for vegetarians).
However, due to the design of the oil filtration system there is a small chance the oil used to fry vegetable patties can become in contact with oil used to cook chicken and fish products during the oil filtering process. We therefore cannot guarantee cross-contamination will not occur.
McDonald's French Fries have been officially accredited by the Vegetarian Society. This is because they are cooked in dedicated frying vats, with a completely separate filtering unit.

I was surprised to realise that on visiting McDonald's recently the Veggie Deli sandwich was not in fact vegetarian and that you do not do any alternatives to tea, coffee or hot choc as hot drinks? Are you looking to add to the range of hot drinks and are you going to change the Veggie Deli so that it is Vegetarian as quite honestly there is not much else on the menu as I cannot see a Veggie burger any more?

What are these? Delicious Digg Reddit Facebook StumbleUpon - 4. Hi, could you please reconsider the recipe of your veggie burgers, which you use for the veggie deluxe and veggie toasted deli? I for one am not a fan of it and think it tastes quite horrible and I have noticed alot of people on here describe it as "vile". Im sure it is putting a lot of potential customers who are vegetarian coming to eat at mcdonalds. Also it would be nice if you offered something else veggie like cheese veg nuggets or something like that. Thanks! :]

McDonald’s is disappointed to hear you aren’t enjoying the Spicy Veggie Deli or the Veggie Deluxe. The company feels there are many options for vegetarians. Such as the French Fries, Hash Browns, Pancakes and Syrup, Bagels, Oatso Simple, Garden Salad, Ice Cream, Carrot Sticks, Fruit Bags, Blueberry Muffins, Triple Chocolate Muffins and various beverages are all suitable for vegetarians.
However, McDonald’s is constantly reviewing its menu options, in particular the vegetarian items, and any specific requests or suggestions should be made to the Customer Services by visiting the ‘Contact Us’ section at www.mcdonalds.co.uk.

What are these? Delicious Digg Reddit Facebook StumbleUpon - 5. Soy Burgers? Why doesn't McDonalds get with the times? I've often pondered why it hasn't upgraded the ghastly, dry, Hippie beanburger of the 70's (who eats them? Would you? Would your cat? I doubt it) with a more juicy, chewy, alternative. Like Soy? What has taken so long? Just because I'm against the killing animals and for a low cost food production doesn't mean I don't yearn for a fat juicy burger. Make the switch to juicy soy and you'll have an eleven year absent customer back.

Thank you for your question. McDonald’s believes it offers a good variety of food items that are suitable for vegetarians, including the French Fries, the Garden Side Salad and the Milkshakes. There are also snack options such as the Fruit Bag and Carrot Sticks. However the company recognises there is always room for improvement and in view of this suggests you should get in touch with the Customer Services Team to log your enthusiasm for more vegetarian options by calling 08705 244622.

I havent been to Mcs for over 15years as nver any veggie food when i was younger and still thought the same .My daughter is a veggie and I've nvr taken her for this reason but even if I had we both hate bean burgers and chickpeas so theres still no choice, i can make nice salad at home. McDonalds could develop a speciality soya burger.
-
Thank you for your question. McDonald's previously offered a Quorn Burger on its menu for two years from 2003 to 2005 however it was not particularly popular.
McDonald’s is constantly reviewing its menu options, in particular the vegetarian items.
With regards to your suggestion of a ‘Soya burger’ please send your request to the Customer Services by visiting the ‘Contact Us’ section at www.mcdonalds.co.uk.

It seems that now the mass media has turned away from vegetarianism, ie. stories are not so hot now, that McDonalds no longer feels the need to provide a decent option!
-
Thank you for your question. McDonald’s is sorry to hear you’re not happy with the menu selection. However, the company feels there are many options for vegetarians. For example, there is the French Fries, Hash Browns, Bagels, Oatso Simple, Garden Salad, Ice Cream, Carrot Sticks, Fruit Bags, Blueberry Muffins, Triple Chocolate Muffins and various beverages.
The Quorn Burger was removed from the menu as it didn’t prove popular with customers. If you would like to see something introduced to the menu, please contact the Customer Services Team by visiting the Contact Us' section on www.mcdonalds.co.uk.

What are these? Delicious Digg Reddit Facebook StumbleUpon - 8. You say you can't reintroduce quorn burgers or the veggie deluxe because of lack of demand. I've never seen an advert for veggie burgers, so people don't know they're available. I know meat eaters who would like a change from meat too. Veggies are more likely to go to burger king - as mcdonalds have the habit of changing the veggie burgers or taking them off the menu completely. You would see demand if you advertised your veggie burgers. So the question is why don't you advertise veggie burger?

What are these? Delicious Digg Reddit Facebook StumbleUpon - 9. Can we at least have a list of decent McDonalds which sell the superb Veggie deluxe then please? I havent bothered to go any where near a McDonalds since I ate one of the Quorn burgers 3 years ago. Except if I'm in Bucharest and need the toilet. Which coincidentally is probably where you should keep your Quorn burgers.

What are these? Delicious Digg Reddit Facebook StumbleUpon - 10. Lack of vegetarian choice is my major issue. Your choice used to be far better. Does McD's consider that vegetarians have different likes and dislikes like meat eaters? I feel that vegetarian customers are not well catered for and think that the current offerings are just a token gesture. Personally I dont like the veggie deli and find it a bit stodgy. Also, is the veggie deluxe not the same burger as the spicy deli disguised in a different outfit?
-
McDonald’s is sorry to hear you feel that way. Although at its heart, McDonald’s primary business will always be in burgers, it goes without saying that customers are very important to the company, and McDonald's works hard to accommodate them all as best as it possibly can, including vegetarians. However, the company recognises there is always room for improvement and in light of this suggests that you should get in touch with the Customer Services Team to

What are these? Delicious Digg Reddit Facebook StumbleUpon - 11. Hi I was just wondering why, when i produce an NUS card to get a free burger iam only offered a cheeseburger or mcflurry. I want to know why there isnt a vegetarian hot option ie, another cup of chips, onion rings, fillet etc. I think you are really disciminating against alot of vegetarian students. I look forward to your reply.
-
You’ll be glad to hear that McDonald’s can substitute the Cheeseburger or Hamburger on offer for a vegetarian alternative when using your NUS Discount Card. Just make the Crew member serving you aware and they will see to it that an appropriate alternative is provided.

What are these? Delicious Digg Reddit Facebook StumbleUpon - 12. Hi could you tell me if the spring rolls are vegetarian? Also I’d love to see a bigger range of vegetarian options available. The deli which included the roasted vegetables was much tastier than the spicy deli (which lets face it, is a dry round-burger shape mush of vegetables cut in half) Id like to see veggie nuggets too!! I’ve noticed a lot of similar questions and really hope you add more veggie stuff... thanks...

What are these? Delicious Digg Reddit Facebook StumbleUpon - 13. hi there. just thought i'd write in to vent about the veggie deli sandwich you guys have introduced to the range. i used to like the old veggie deluxe and loved the quorn premier but these new things taste awful and they look even worse. they look GREY at times. horrible bland rubbish. as such i haven't eaten at your restaurants for a few months. shame as i used to like a treat there every now and then. I wish you'd get some decent veggie stuff on the go! Any plans do to this?
-
McDonald’s is disappointed to hear you aren’t enjoying the Spicy Veggie Deli. With regards to other previously available options you mentioned, the Veggie Deluxe is now only available in restaurants where the demand for it is high, whilst the Quorn Burger was not popular with the majority of customers and has consequently been removed from the menu. However, it goes without saying that vegetarian customers are very important to the company and McDonald's works hard to accommodate them as best as it possibly can. If you feel strongly about seeing more vegetarian options on the menu, please email McDonald's using the 'Contact Us' link at www.mcdonalds.co.uk. The team will be happy to hear your suggestions.

What are these? Delicious Digg Reddit Facebook StumbleUpon - 14. How long will it be before you offer free range chicken. Also, could you offer more vegetarian options - most vegetarians love quorn -could you incorporate that into burgers etc.
-
Firstly apologies for the delay in answering your question, the team has been very busy with all the questions that are pouring in and everybody is working hard to answer them all.
McDonald’s is constantly reviewing the production methods of the poultry used for its chicken based food products. At the moment the market for free range chicken meat production is very small, and the cost therefore prohibitive. But McDonald’s is working closely with research organisations such as the Food Animal Initiative, who are developing alternative production methods for chicken which aim to provide a more welfare-friendly system on a large commercial scale. In the meantime, McDonald's, like other responsible food businesses, is concentrating on working with producers and welfare experts to provide and good welfare conditions for the birds that allow them to display their natural behavior in comfortable surroundings.
Regarding Quorn, McDonald’s used to offer The Quorn Premier on its menu. Unfortunately this was not very popular with customers when it was on sale, and as a result it was withdrawn. McDonald’s is sorry to hear you’re not happy with the menu selection.
If you would like to see something introduced to the menu, please contact the Customer Services Team by visiting the Contact Us' section on www.mcdonalds.co.uk.

What are these? Delicious Digg Reddit Facebook StumbleUpon - 15. hi, i just want to know whether if any of the food from mcdonald is vegetarian? if so which one is it ? and which ones are not i.e. fish-o-fillet and why????
-
McDonald's current menu offers a variety of food items that are suitable for vegetarians, including the French Fries - which are cooked in 100 percent vegetable oil and approved by the Vegetarian Society - and the Garden Side Salad. There are also snack options such as the Fruit Bag and Carrot Sticks.
The filet-O-fish is not certified as suitable for vegetarians as it contains fish. Please note that the Spicy Veggie Deli and Veggie Deluxe burger are not Vegetarian Society approved food items even though they contain no animal products, this is due to the possibility of cross contamination with oil from the chicken/fish vats during the oil filtering process.
